(Bit of a lie) I'm not 10% done, I'm about 90% done... but I'm going to use this update facility to let you know how it's going in the final few months of manuscript writing/editing. In discussions with potential new agent and she is VERY EXCITED. She's read the 1st third, husband has read 1st & 2nd, and me... writing final few chaps! Add as a To-Read if you're looking forward to an immersive female pirate novel!

- Opening. Currently writing 5/6th of the way in!

Much more story by the end and I was content enough - but not my favourite JW book.

I feel like the story took an awfully long time to grip me but I'm finally there. Like most writers I'm just *really* fussy and judgemental in my reading :-)

Confession: I'm not enjoying this like I expected to. I've enjoyed 2 of JW's other books very much. And this is historical (Napoleonic era) and I like historical fiction by 'literary' writers because they tend to have depth, more complex and nuanced characterisation (think Wolf Hall). But this is just too - distanced. A lot of philosophy. Very few 'scenes' we can immerse ourselves in.
