Re-reading Shift because it's been many years since I read the Silo series and now I'm totally hooked on the show. I wanted to refresh my memory on the books between seasons. I already re-read Wool. The entire book series is fantastic!

Amazing book so far. Gripping, smart. Interesting and complex characters with a science mystery at the heart of it the story. Also woven in is a toxic political environment much like we are living in, which is leading to major problems.

I had a hard time getting started with this book and almost quit it because I didn't like either of the 2 main characters at all. But along the line something changed, and I am now drawn in and must know what happens!

There is still something kind of annoying about it, which I can't quite put my finger on, but I want to finish it.

I have given it a good shot, but have decided not to continue with this book.. it is just too slow moving for me. Beautiful descriptions but it is not enough to keep me going for several hundred more pages. I hate to quit a book before finishing but this one is so long, I think I will just move on to something else.

This is turning out to be one of the most interesting books I have read in the last several years. Following the journey of Peter, the pastor from Earth, as he gets to know and ministers to an alien people on another planet, with the dynamics of his wife left on Earth during a terrible time, and his interactions with the humans and aliens on the new world, is very compelling.

Judy is starting The Lost City of the Monkey God: A True Story
This is a real-life 'edge of your seat" explorer thriller! Amazing detail and background on this expedition to find a true lost city. I am about 1/3 through so far and it's getting more and more exciting.

The only reason I am reading this book is that one of my favorite actors, Robert Carlyle, (Once Upon a Time) is directing and starring in the movie adaptation of it. The movie is being filmed right now in Glasgow Scotland. So far this is a dark and rather funny read, very different from what I usually read.

Update, this book is really good- dark humor, and a good read. I will probably read more in the series!
