Just wanted to copy this quote from a review:

I may have started this book to find new ways to live a Gospel-centered lifestyle -- and I definitely found a few -- but what happened was far more important: I found Stewart's book reigniting hope in me, and that is why I will recommend it to others.

Got through to the end of the book and thought, "This was good, but it felt choppy in places." Then I turned to the front page and saw that it was an abridged version. That explains it!

Dropping this. I cannot stand sentences like, "The 1950s picture of an ideal housewife was one in which a woman’s intellect played no significant role. That truly is a suffocating position to be in, but if the women had wanted to change that, they could have done it by actually deciding to accomplish impressive, challenging, and important things."
Right. Because they had the freedom to do that.

Just finished the chapter on God-as-laboring-woman, and it was fascinating! (And well timed, what with Christmas and all)... I really should reflect on this more...

doing my best to ignore the irritation I feel at all her "going round the bases" references...

great book! it's giving me lots of information and encouragement to keep cutting out processed foods...

The title makes it sounds like this should be a book for "beginner Christians" (if there is such a thing). It's not. The chapter on baptism alone has given me enough of a challenge...

Someone wrote on here that they would love to have the author's life as their own... 50 pages in and I get that. Although, I've been to Kalamazoo, MI and I'll take my hometown in Santa Rosa over there any day. :)

have to be honest: it's taken me this long to finally figure out the structure of her book. That's a little obnoxious. However, i'm finding that I really want to hear her opinions on whatever it is she is talking about... so I haven't thrown in the towel yet on this one.

When I was reading this in the local coffee shop, I found it hard to not actively display all the emotions that I felt... tears of understanding, fist pumps of solidarity, and the like. I really am loving this book!

This is really am excellent book... not only an I learning things about my daughter's brain development but I'm also gaining self-awareness about my own brain's journey.

I'm really loving this book - the author has wonderful insights and anecdotes. Looking forward to the "application" part of the book.

anytime bryson reports on the government it depresses me a bit...

Classic Bryson... "blah blah blah... PUNCH LINE!" But it gets me every time :)

Love her story and how it relates to both laundry and the kitchen... am learning lots.

Love this... author deftly weaves narratives of book and life together seamlessly.

Best quote ever: "We seek ever wilder attributes of thrum but we still need it to make sense. We don't want to be savage primates now, do we? We've got entertainment, we've got mathematics, we demand the groove!"
