'What if we say “no”? What if we all just rise up and stand together in the middle of the street instead of processing down either side of it in obedience to a despicable ideology that is tearing us apart?' is this book written for idiots

Everyone in this book so far is dumb and discusses things like 9 year old. No WAY is an SS officer explaining to a random Pole that German scientists have found that the Jews are inferior in a blithe one-liner, whilst issuing the order for resettlement.

'My response was, “I’m so thankful this day is over.” Lance started laughing. He’s like, “Mike, this isn’t over, this will never be over for you. There will always be the six-month anniversary, the one-year anniversary, the five-year anniversary, the 10-year anniversary. You’ll be talking about this for the rest of your life.”'

Kristina is finished with Midnight in Chernobyl: The Untold Story of the World's Greatest Nuclear Disaster
A perfect testament to a terrifying, bewildering accident that changed geopolitics, and the environment, and the world - just astounding. Lost count of how many times my mouth fell open.

'Long may they kiss each other for this cure!
O! never let their crimson liveries wear;
And as they last, their verdure still endure,
To drive infection from the dangerous year: 508
That the star-gazers, having writ on death,
May say, the plague is banish'd by thy breath.

"Our nihilistic aesthetician is right when he says: a real apple is more beautiful than a painted one, and a living woman is more beautiful than a Venus of stone."

"All the sanguinary tyrants that ever occupied a throne; the inquisitors who had the heretics tortured, roasted, and butchered; all the woman whom the pages of history have recorded as lustful, beautiful, and violent women like Libussa, Lucretia Borgia, Agnes of Hungary, Queen Margot, Isabeau, the Sultana Roxolane, the Russian Czarinas of last century—all these I saw in furs or in robes bordered with ermine."

To-morrow is Saint Valentine's day,
All in the morning betime,
And I a maid at your window,
To be your Valentine.
Then up he rose, and donn'd his clothes,
And dupp'd the chamber-door;
Let in the maid, that out a maid
Never departed more.
