Oeps not me not making my reading challenge because I keep starting new books without finishing the ones I started.

I fear my Goodreads profile may be beginning to reveal something a little too much about the state of my mind. I'm gonna finish all of these and get around to typing up some reviews for the ones I've recently finished, I swear!

I'm gonna do a little review for every essay.

-The spike
This is just a chapter from "Down and out in Paris and London". I prefer the Paris section, but I enjoyed rereading this. It contains all the sharp observations on the nature of poverty and demonstrates the dehumanzing nature of the spikes (20th century homeless shelters) which really just make sure to keep the "tramps" poor by preventing them getting employed

Woop woop new essay collection with some hard hitters from George Orwell! Two essays in and I'm starting to suspect the answer might be no...

On a serious note, it is a little bizarre how relevant the criticism in "Writers and Leviathan" still is to modern political writing.
