It seems like this is a fairly easy book. But, I can't let a book I ordered off the Internet go to waste. I am mostly reading this to understand the very confusing anime for this.

John is starting FLCL Volume 1

I haven't started this book yet, but I've seen the anime that goes along with it. It's very interesting. Hopefully the book will clear some things up, though.
