I'll be back to this. I was alternating reading this with some of Fritz Lieber's early short stories, and thinking about the differences. Lieber's are definitely more traditional in structure, but both authors make you think.

I haven't been back to this book since I set it down last. Although it was lauded by so many, at nearly 100 pages in, I haven't been able to find a connection with the characters. And for me, that connection, more than story, is important. I have to admit I may end up abandoning this read.

I really like this book, but it's like being subsumed in another world and I get restless and then distracted by other books. It's a big book and takes attention.

And haven't had a chance to get back to it, but I'm looking forward to it. Knowing it's waiting for me is pleasant.

Interesting characters and world with a story that doesn't start to ramp up until the journey actually begins. If you like a fast pace and action from the start, this is not the book for you.

Well written, as you might expect with deLint. Lots of foreshadowing. Am looking forward to action breaking.

So far the most interesting parts have been set in the past of the haunted katana. Whether the MC will kick the sword's butt or be its latest victim is very much up in the air.
