Enjoying this so far. Helprin's usual themes of love, beauty and sacrifice are front and center--illuminated by his unique and ascendant use of the language. There is also a mystery/detective story woven throughout that make this more of a page turner than his last few works.

I received this through the Goodreads Giveaways program. I'm a big "old movie" buff and can't wait to get deeper into the life of one of Hollywood's earliest and still best known stars.
