Currently Esme is my favorite of this series. The disregard for others, and the pure ego-centrism of the characters is very well developed and brief in language of that story. Overall the characters a surprisingly well fleshed out in each of the stories even with just brief glimpses in their lives. This book is definitely period literature, but so far quite enjoyable.
