Finished this tonight. It was okay but I'm a little disappointed. I wanted to like this because of the concept but it just didn't land for me. There were some holes and it was a lot of build up for a little bit of heist.

I just don't get the legalities of this! Hopefully it's explained as we go into the actual heist, if we do because it seems to me that what's happening with all the women I could see them backing down.

An interesting start and I'm curious how the plan will play out. I'm enjoying the various dynamics of each woman's relationships. I have a feeling this will be a predictable story but you never know!

Finished this ages ago just keep forgetting to update! This was good! A little sad at times. I liked how time travel was handled and all the Greek mythology references. Ending felt a bit rushed though. And I sort of wish that we got to see Cassandra more after she realizes who she is etc.

The plot really didn't pick up until, maybe the last 200 pages? That's disappointing compared to her other series where I'm chomping at the bit to finish. I'll get the third book as this leaves so many questions at the end. Much like book 1, I think 3 stars will be just fine. I like the side characters, I like the overall plot (when there is one), just not a huge fan of Bryce and Hunt lol

It's picked up a bit. I have found it hard reading Bryce and Hunt's intimate scenes because I read them more akin to friends with benefits. In SJM's other books there is more a connection (not just lust). However, they seem to have had a couple more conversations which justified there other intimate scene. It's a lot of smut. I am still more curious about the secondary characters and their plots vs Bryce and Hunt

Much like the first book, I prefer the side characters to Bryce and Hunt lmao they just annoy me! And I'm all for romantasy but the smut in this one... her smutty scenes in other books have a bit more class to them if that makes sense? There was reason behind the smuttiness, but with Bryce and Hunt it doesn't add to the story or tension.

Actually started reading this a couple days ago. Had to look up what happened in book one because there wasn't much of an intro. Also, these first 200 pages haven't really been anything.

Finished and was partially correct in my deductions! While this wasn't one of my top favourite Christie's, it wasn't the worst either. I thought the setting and premise was interesting. I just missed on the motive. I wonder if the happenings closer to the end actually added to the plot? It just seemed a little "Oh, better add in another murder." End seemed rushed as well.

It dipped a bit in the middle (when it got dark) but I have thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's not a genre I would normally read but it was so good! I loved the dynamic of the sisters and the historical tie-ins, especially at the end.

Holy this book! I have always wanted to see The Nutcracker and so the beginning of this book drew me in. I can't stop reading it, it's so good. I'm really enjoying this dark perspective and am curious to see what happens!

I've become a fan of mysteries as I get older but this one fell flat. There were a lot of perspectives without actually revealing anything of value. The big reveal was really disappointing. I half solved it but we didn't get the murderer's big why moment and I feel that helps a mystery land. It was a long build up to nothing. Not sure if I would try her other books.

Well I have finished this and it was okay. I don't think the author wove enough of a mystery? It just seemed like a lot of build up for a very small reveal. I had trouble with the writing as well.

I haven't been doing well at updating my reading for this one. It took awhile for me to get into this, I didn't realize that it's sort of like Downton Abbey so the writing is as such. It's okay; I don't like the author adding more modern observations to it (she sort of breaks the fourth wall talking to us and I just don't think it works).

This is a very interesting mystery. I like the first person narration and it's fun when he breaks the fourth wall (however, some of it could be construed as "spoilery"). The twists are so well set up. There are many chapters that end with me gasping or going "whoa!" Very interested to see how it all comes together.

Interesting to see the differences from the show. So far the book is alright. Seems a bit more lust at first sight from Simon's POV but I do like Daphne's character and how she's written. We get a good sense of her personality.

Finished tonight. I thought this YA fantasy would be different from other's because it was more about the siblings. But it dragged so much and accomplished so little by the end. It didn't leave me wanting to read the next book. I liked the world building but the characters were hard to root for in the end.

Still haven't found the key despite having all the map pieces etc. It's gotten clunky in the middle. I thought the different sibling perspectives would offer something new each chapter but the structure is just kinda blending it all together, almost like you really don't need a chapter focusing on one sibling when it repeats what happened in the other sibling's chapter.

So my biggest issue with this book so far is that, as it's part of a duology, the main goal of the story is dragged right out. Like it's been over 100 pages and not much has happened. At this rate, they'll be leaving on the quest for the Ivory Key in the last 10 pages, which wouldn't be cool. At least follow the book synopsis! Gah! Different character chapters are okay probably because it's not first person.

So far it's alright. I like the different narratives of the siblings but I worry about that being repetitive (like something happens to one character in their chapter and then immediately the next character says the same thing in their chapter right away). I wish there was a little more world building. Like there's the gist but I couldn't really picture too much.

I've enjoyed the different perspectives. I kinda wish the whole book was like that. It's not so much of a mystery though (especially as the one narrative basically gives the mystery in the other one away). But it's still intriguing.
