Janet has been attacked by a strange beast that only she can see and is saved by Tom. Moments later, on page 46, she is telling Tom about her father being overprotective, her being homeschooled, and her feeling like her house is a prison. She remarks, "and that is maybe even more terrifying than those bloody creatures of yours."
She's REALLY taking the strange beast attack rather well...
