Audio. A great listen at 1.2. A story of a family - mother, father, brothers and sisters. Each chapter is in the person of a different character. It’s a comfortable, engaging story - Recommend to Kristen!

Audio. Narrator is amazing!! He does so many great accents. Writing is hard, funny, sarcastic. I skipped hours 18-20. Restarted with hour 21. Right after the sweetest moments in the story, then chapter 18 happened.

Audio. Why do I love this? It takes place in Bombay which is super interesting and I’ve worked with so many Indians in my career and the audio for the Indian guy is awesome!!! I think that’s my favorite part so far. It’s 42 hours long so I hope I can stick with it

Reading. Great story about 2 women in Ireland in the 70s each fighting their own battles with husband, children, rights, etc. flying through it!

Amazeballs. Reading with my mothers and sisters. I read so many books and speed read through them that this one I’m a physical copy and I’m underlining, interesting phrases and words and descriptions of people. When I wake up in the morning, I read two and then go back and peruse others. This is definitely meant to enjoy every moment. I don’t want it to end so I’m making it last as long as I can.

Wow, this is a difficult read

Listening. Oh the tension!! Ahhh

Audio. Love it! Intense, sad, good writing, totally empathizing with main character, Kiara. Mother with 3 little kids, no money and has to leave her husband. Very difficult!

Only downside (I had this happen to another book recently and had to quit listening) narrator is soothing to listen to and then one of the characters is always yelling. It’s startling! This seems to calm down halfway thru

Audio. 75% pretty good.

Reading. Good writing. Way to read and compelling story. Germans that worship hitler. The story is bout Hetty- 11 when we meet her.

DNF.

Reading, tough story. A young girl loses her mother, father at war, doesn’t know what happens to twin brothers. Winds up in the orphanage. Now she’s taking care of a families kids. She is an empath and can feel peoples sicknesses. So scared of what happens to her.

Reading. 80 pages in, good writing style but jeez, so sad!! People, qboth young and old, desperate with Spanish flu trying to survive in Philadelphia.

Reading, a real book in my hands given to me by my sister for Christmas! Read 389 pages on first sitting! Stayed up until 2 am. So good. Sam’s story is so sad as a POW in Japan. Sarah story is good also using her intelligence to support war efforts. This one is worth the hype it’s getting!! 5 stars ⭐️

Audio. Interesting concept. But the Fbombs - too much!!

Need to let this one rest for awhile and come back later. I’ve loved a lot of Phillipas books - this one I’m finding is just ok for me at this time.

Listening to this and am not getting into it, I think I will try reading it.

Reading. Wow, this is a sad story! This story is about a woman that thought she’d have a better life in America. Ended up on Blue Ridge where they are trying to buy up land and forcing the native residents out in very horrible ways. Hard to read by a great author.

Audio. Hmmm, not sure yet.

Reading. I think 3.5 for this book is about right. A mom, daughters, best friend. Dads, boyfriends. Divorce, Sex….group sex? Superfluous.

Good, tense, scary at the Tall Pines property, all of a sudden we are in town. Seems like a new story

“Better not try to shove religion down my throat…I’m not trying to get saved by some imaginary god, but to get sober”- maybe believing in God will help you and give you strength. Maybe? “Praying the Lord’s Prayer…but I can’t pray to something I don’t believe in” ugh…typical Oprah bookclub book

Another “praying to a god I don’t believe in” comment. Why are you praying to Him unless you actually do believe in Him.

Guy beats up wife, we are back in WWII rescuing Jews, we are replanting vineyards, we have a fire, we love different women, we have a gay man. Lots of ground covered in 66 pages. Will see where it goes.

Audio. Audio is good. Sad story with sections of a young singers life, abandoned by her parents and people she meets along the way as she travels in her car across the country. Brave, smart girl.

Audio. A sad story. A picture of a mothers unending love, but sick subject matter. A teen boy likes young girls, he knows it’s bad but can’t help it. He suffers many beatings, hospitalization, suicide attempts. Well written but personally I don’t feel I should spend my head time in a story like this.

I love this series. I started this one on audio but didn’t love it so I’m switching to reading it. Who does love a sweet read that takes place on a barrier island, in a little cabin with lots of good friends and a little bit of drama? I know I do!
