So far, ‘How much land…’ is my favourite. Classic tale of greed and ‘the more you have, the more you want’. Brilliant last line.

Finding it hard to get stuck into but interesting it enough to try to keep at it. I like its dark humour and different perspectives, but not much is happening. 73 pages in, 295 to go and everything in the synopsis had already happened. I might pause for a while and pick up something else.

Max has read yet another account of an event in his life. Oh boy he's getting angry. I feel I'm witnessing a should-be-deeply-personal existential crisis. Terrible privacy indeed!

I also enjoyed reading about Donald Crowhurst. I was bored with the digression from Max at first, but then go so absorbed by the Crowhurst story that I forgot about Max altogether! (Would love it if he turned out to be his father! No spoilers please)

I like it so far. Max just wants to talk, but nobody wants to talk anymore. Any attempt at conversation is received with horror. Poor Max would be grateful to give directions in a park, just to have someone to talk to for a while.
