Character development, excellent m, but plot drones on and on. Charlotte's abuse obvious but why wait so long to reveal what we figured out? Corinna was shrewd but her insecurity irks me!

Everyone loves Camille, why can't they love themselves? Disgust is not entertaining... just pitiful...

Slow start but an intense and engaging adventure.

Genius use of music lyrics at poignant plot points!

I was not a fan of Dubois coming into the book but I understand him more through Jesse's love, the eloquent description of the times and, as I enter in "debate" with the middle and upper class Black Folks on issues facing them in the 1920s Harlem Renaissance.

Exciting and engaging!

The plot is interesting but the characters are superficial and immature. The grief theme takes backseat to fashion and food.

The author carries great themes but jumbled the message. I liked Josiah but found Yasmin sef-serving.

I felt like a Mother, Intimacy is more than sex. Stop using each other.... you are not animals! Use your words!
