why is it still so tame?

ok really liking this book im so scared

ok we're through with the dystopian love island portion when do we get to the fucked up lord of the flies portion i need them to be more unhinged

there was a tw for bullying and i was like that makes sense it's a private magic school for rich snobs of course there will be bullies and the bullying is these grown ass boys (they're like 18 that's grown i think) making younger students carry their stuff or pushing them around or spitting in food and making them eat it so i was like ooof ok that's rough hope someone intervenes THEN the waterboarding started ???

love that the chapter have fun titles and very charmed by that friend group already

mostly really liking that the students, while typically pretentious (given the private school setting etc), still talk like actual human beings (you don't get that a lot in "YA dark academia" bc the authors have never heard a teenager speak or try too hard to force it and the characters end up sounding like outdated tumblr posts)

close to halfway through here are some thoughts:
1. the audiobook is so fun i can't believe it's only narrated by one guy
2. i get why jensen ackles is a popular cast for carl (like early supernatural dean) but i can only picture markiplier maybe it's the video game aspect
3. the video game aspect!! i played rpgs so i love the vibes i am curious if people who don't play video games at all would enjoy it as much

unfortunately i am now very attached to every single one in this flock of clowns

1. i thought she would be less self aware about everything? so far the narration sometimes makes it come off as if that lifestyle is just a means to an end not something she actually believes in? she's still horrible and a hypocrite obviously but i feel like the point might've been made better in third person (or i could be wrong about everything)
2. when she found that piece of plastic??? what's happening???

1. love that "magic" seems sooo normal compared to whatever the fuck is going on with this family like that should be the least of their concerns
2. rooting for gillian and arthur who deserve the world (and maybe even yves he's chill and possibly the most well adjusted person in this (fuck philippa)
3. at least 3 characters should be allowed to shoot meredith with a gun
4. i kinda do not care what happens to eilidh

everyone's so awful olivie blake is so funny for this

love when obscenely rich people are assholes and also suffering

witchcraft isn't enough someone hand marlinchen a gun

i feel so giddy reading this right oh wow man it appeals to me sooo greatly and it's so perfect for the weather

i judged too quickly the voice actor for tamasha is PERFORMING and it's lowkey funnier

idk what changed and the audiobook narrator but it's so forced now?? like that was its only redeemable feature

i would find these people very insufferable in real life

kinda funny that the most chill almost nicest person in this book is the dude that's basically 6382524 worms in a trench coat

what are they cooking in fucking west virginia

ok the hive thing reminds of the corruption/jane prentiss from the magnus archives (which is the highest compliment i can give to any horror book)
