I am oscillating wildly between “yeah this is the girl version of Catcher” and “this is SUCH a teenage book omg”

I love when a plan is so completely and utterly terrible that it’s only going to blow up in their faces

This feels very much like the girl equivalent of “Catcher in the Rye”

Marylander here. It is absolutely hot outside at the end of June. Also Simon’s dickishness does not fit the reasoning for it—how the hell is he expecting to keep getting people in to help as cast if he runs off anyone who might not know what they’re doing yet because GASP, they make mistakes? Extremely non-proportional response, even knowing who these characters are based on.

This book drew me to it because I’m a DSO and help students apply for OPT just about every day. It’s set about 10 years prior to when I started in the field so I’m interested to see what’s changed—though the casual racism Pavitra encounters is sadly still common

DNF-- if both of your main characters are so unlikeable, I don't want to read about them falling in love. Particularly when this brand of love seems to be

1. Luca is such an asshole idk if I can get past it. He wasn’t as bad in the last book.
2. Valentina keeps saying Raven is one of her best friends. I recall Raven being like “oh, and Valentina is here. For some reason. Why does Luca bring his secretary everywhere??” in the last book. What???
