I’m reading a story almost every night & I am always creeped out, shocked, &/or grossed out! I’m very glad to have come by this & I plan to take my time enjoying this one. A collection with so many good authors that’s 500+ pages....not something I come by often.

Ok WRONG REVIEW- oops!

I am only a chapter in on this one & I think of some of Jack Ketchum’s books like a movie similar to (at least on the same level) ‘Cannibal Holocaust’.

I’m reading a story every night & so far...I’ve enjoyed each one

DNF yet

Temporarily on hold so that I can finish a few other books that I started reading b4 this one. That’s the only reason really, as I am enjoying this book & so far I’d recommend to a friend.

Yes indeed I am having a great time reading these stories....so much in fact that I am trying to pace myself on purpose as opposed to zipping through it. I read about 2 stories each week-sometimes 1.

I’d love to see more of these from this talented writer of several aspects of the horror genre!

How’s this book? Ummm...,fantastic!! I’m so close to finishing it & so excited. For a long time I’ve had time only to work, eat, & sleep!

Needless to say, I’ve since made some life changes. You’ll see my full review very soon...this one was fun to read, quite original, & freakishly creepy!!!!

Book is kicking ass & flying by already!

This is both my trick & treat for this Halloween!!

This is quite a fun collection! I’m grateful to have been given a copy to review & also consider myself lucky to read this book as my first of the flash-fiction experience. Im having a blast with it & look forward to the second half.

There are several things happening & revealing themselves throughout this book...the blurb gives you only 1 major layer of conflict, however there is MUCH more to this story than others I have read in its genre.

Life has kept me from being able to tear through this story as I wanted to. It’s the type of book that ends every chapter with the reader saying “ok...just one more & then I’ve got to go!” I love it when that happens.

Listening/Reading

I could agree more with the above excerpt which I pulled from chapter 2, in the POV of Conway. In fact, OFF SEASON was brought up between another member of the HA group in our thread on Laymon’s THE CELLAR. We were discussing similarities between some of Ketchum & Laymon’s work & I brought up that amongst all of the supernatural threats in many books I love-human monsters can be scarier than anything I could imagine.

“Vampires, werewolves… he loved monsters–they knew about the night. He nourished his appreciation for the darker side of literature for hours every night. No less than two hours with a book prior to his drink on the porch and no less than another two hours when he came back in. Right now, he was nearing the end of Jack Ketchum’s OFF SEASON. It featured a different type of monster—man, the scariest of them all.”

Despite the mixed reviews about this book, I'm listening to it- narrated by Bob Barnes. Perhaps his excellent story telling job & the way he reads the dialogue & different characters makes a difference. Either way- I'm enjoying the story. ;)

So... I haven't read a horror story involving a werewolf since BLOOD AND RAIN. I'm flying through this one so far. I'm gonna try my best not to hold this book to any certain standards considering how much my last werewolf encounter kicked so much ass. Alright, let the good times roll! AAAAHHROOOOO!!!!

NEXT FULL MOON MAY 29th!!

This is some of the best flash fiction I’ve read. I love the scary ones, but I have yet to read something I didn’t find interesting. Time to read some more. :)

It's exactly what I've come to expect from Laymon's work- scary as hell creeptastic horror. Good stuff. I'd rather be attacked by any type of supernatural monster than the human monsters Laymon puts in his books.
