Didn't finish before the book was went back to the library. Not really for me. The stories are dark and and somewhat fantastical. Well-written, though.

Did not finish. Too needlessly graphic for me, and also the story was boring and the characters were vapid. Might have given it more of a chance to build if not for the sexual content.

Beaker than bleak. Though the decline of humanity following a catastrophic disaster (nuclear war, perhaps?) is believable, I think the author underestimates the resilience of life. Yes, the world would be radically changed, but a decade plus following such an event would show signs of recovery. Jennifer is reading Something Beautiful Happened: A Story of Survival and Courage in the Face of Evil
I had a hard time staying engaged with the author's writing style. It seemed very repetitive and banal a lot of times and I found myself skipping over several pages at a time in places. It's a good story, and I'm glad the families involved were able to find some resolution to their histories after the story nearly vanished, but it could have been told more succinctly and powerfully.
