Listening to the audiobook with the kids for their first time through, my second time. Just so good.

This book was a childhood favorite of mine. I read and re-read it many times. This week I’m reading it to my daughter who is responding to the magic of the story in all the same ways that I did at her age.

Our first re-read of Swallowdale, the second adventure of the Swallows and the Amazons. Having now sailed the waters, explored Wild Cat Island, and climbed Kanchenjunga (Old Man Coniston IRL) just like the kids in the book, the beautiful setting is more real than ever. I’m so looking forward to this one since literally following in the characters’ footsteps. Plus The Great Aunt! Everyone’s favorite to despise.

My last unread Austen! The first few chapters have been utterly delightful.

I’m listening to the Andy Serkis audiobook with the kids for their first time through the story. We’ve read The Hobbit together a few times before and the kids’ friends have been applying a lot of positive peer pressure for them to read the trilogy too.😅

I accidentally bought and started the fourth book in this advent series when we were actually due to read this third book this year. Oops. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Prime shipping to the rescue! We will read THIS book throughout the advent season.
