Im over a hundred pages in, not all of it is sticking with me. I understand the premise, but otherwise confused. Still enjoyable. Will return to it in future.

Great book so far! I love the protagonist's disdain for life, and the Magus' disdain for novels! Nice irony.

Unreally heavygoing throughout.
Highly enjoyable.
Brutal. Inspiring.

Back on the 'aul cart once again. I'm predicting that i WILL finish it before the year is over, but MY, what an epic grind it gets after roughly 400 pages. Often feels like a treasure hunt, those little sections that gleam with incredible clarity. But it is part of the book's weakness, i think, that entire sections can be skipped with no damage to my overall grasp of the content. I approach it as, and at my leisure.

Writing that's very smokey and often, I can't really figure out what's been said, or why... the words choices are palatable, but I'm barely able to get a clear view of the subject matter. These are often the most fun books to read, and it's not like I'm not getting anything from it. It is like a personal chunk of veiny, sinewy flesh taken from one Shani Oates' traditional backdrop of the Clan of Tubal Cain...

Enjoyed the first 100+ pages of the Ruby Knight so much i had to start at the beginning of the series. (Thought that might happen...)
This is the first real fantasy series I'm really getting into. Gripping, snappy, action-filled pages. Loving it immensely.

Great so far, gripping actually. Could this be the spark that ignites a love of fantasy literature? Only time will tell...

"Maybe I should have followed him; but somehow it went from toosoon to too late, without the right moment in between."
This book really picks up at the second part. I found myself reading it last night at around 5am. The air of sickness present in the first part has healed, and understandably, the book experience is better off for it.

I haven't read a book as undemanding as this in a long time.
It's nice, pleasant to read. The protagonist, Emmet, has been sick through the entirety of what I've read thus far. The book seems to attempt to acquire a gilding of "magic", or something, from the floral word-arranging around his illness' symptoms...

Undoubtedly sublime to read, oftentimes confusing. Keywords give the story some light, as it's a snake of a train of thought, flashing and crawling quickly through ideas, smells, equipment, items...
What I believe has happened in this last chunk I read: some drinking, some singing, some music, lots of tapping (from where?) and a sense of relief at leaving the bar and walking on the streets of Dublin once more...
