Erin U is starting Something in the Water
Stopped listening 2 hours from the end when Erin (my name) yet again chose to make a shitty decision to further endanger her and Mark’s lives. I couldn’t scream at her so I chose self preservation and put the book down. Perhaps I was taking it too personally, but every time Mark had to explain why her choices were bloody stupid, I felt guilty. Assuming she makes it out alive, but honestly, she doesn’t deserve to.

So close to stopping this book because of Riley's daughter and mother. Completely fed up with how they treat Riley and how she continues to take it.

I picked this up due to a comparison to Game of Thrones. While there is a similar medieval violent and magical world and a complex cast of characters, I have yet to find a character as compelling as Tyrion or even Arya. I'll keep slogging through, but I'm hoping for excitement soon.

Some very complex relationships thus far. Enlightening look at the era. Author has done a great job of fleshing out relevant history and inserting it into the storyline. Definitely should read more about the first half of the twentieth century.

"In the sullen hours before daylight, a thick dewy fog was settling over the deep green lawns of Central Park. A waning moon hung over the cityscape like a Cheshire cat's looming smile." With those first two sentences, I went on guard. Hopefully, the rest of the book won't sound so overworked.
