The turn this has taken is not romantic, it’s gross. I’ve always been lukewarm on this series but yeah this is not a good development.

Honestly most of the humans in these books are awful and unlikeable, so I’m kind of cheering for the Bear to kill everyone and let the chyerti rule.

I love the world of this series so much, but I am always so frustrated by the main conflicts.

I adore this world! So nice to be back here.

Im enjoying this quite a lot. There is some fairly complex world building happening, which I always appreciate.

The crew have just figured out what I suspected 90 pages ago!

I’m convinced I’ve solved the mystery! (I have correctly guessed the conclusion to a mystery just once in my life, but I think I’m really onto something this time).

“Raising a child makes us happier than beating a video game.” LOL sure, bud.

This is depressing AF lol. I shouldn’t be surprised; it’s the stories of women experiencing and enduring their city being sacked, but damn.

“But I couldn’t humble myself to take back my words.” This is Hagar in a nutshell. She is incredibly difficult to sympathize with.

I’m not as immediately gripped by this as I was by ‘A Jest of God’ or ‘A Bird in the House’, but I will persevere.

This book is so lovely. It really speaks to my soul.

Began the audio on a whim for my walk to work this morning and I’m really enjoying my it! Greek mythology never disappoints.

I feel like this book abandons half of the stuff the characters learned in the first book. They cut the dino DNA with DNA from other creatures since they couldn’t get a complete strand (thus how they were able to breed, they picked up the ability to swap sexes from frog DNA). But they now think they’re witnessing authentic dino behaviour and don’t consider hybrid influences. If only Grant was here, he’d know.

This is better than Uprooted so far, but if it also throws in a ridiculous ‘romance’ out of nowhere I’m gonna be pissed.

I think Mieville’s writing is generally fantastic, but he has used the word “puissant” three times in the last eight pages and it’s starting to get on my nerves 😂.
