Book #7 of the Chee and Leaphorn series when the two Navajo Tribal Policemen first work together to try to solve 3 murders that might be linked to a witch or in the parlance of the Navajo, a skinwalker. It’s a gripping tale and full of vivid descriptions of the Shiprock area in Northeastern New Mexico.

I think Season 1 of Dark Winds is based on this story but with some key differences. I’m generally partial to original text but I have to confess that Netflix preserves the essence of the novel but with addictively dramatic flair not quite present in print so far.
