I'm trying not to be a hater, but my favourite part of the book so far was the translator's notes.

Starting this one from the beginning again and liking it even more.

So, I’m over half way through this book and I feel like a whole lot of nothing has happened. We’re getting a lot of backstory about our characters, and this book really focuses on some of the parts of the world that we haven’t gotten to see a lot of so far. However, we’re lacking some main characters storylines and in my opinion that’s caused a huge chunk of the plot to be missing.

This feels almost like a filler.

So far this is giving me the same vibes as a lot of other live-in babysitter books, but I’m really enjoying the writing style, and the characters are setting up to be quite interesting. I’m looking forward to getting into the more “horror/thriller” elements of the story but so far it’s looking interesting.

This book is weird, it’s very convoluted with unnecessary details and kind of boring. I’ll power through but I’m not loving it.

This book has lost it's edge and it's speed, I feel like it's just completely dropped off and the author's just trying to make it as weird as possible at this point without actually trying to write a well written or soundly plotted book. Writing incest, rape, animal cruelty, and body horror doesn't make a good horror book, especially when they're not well plotted or interesting. I was so excited for this one :'(

Slowllyyy getting through this one

I'm trying really hard not to DNF this one, it feels like a whole lot is happening and yet the book is staying at the exact some pace.

This book has some really interesting and introspective social commentaries on feminism and motherhood, however, it is so, so boring. I am slogging through the pages, finding nothing that is funny, just pages and pages of the most menial and tedious paragraphs. Please tell me this book is worth it

Very slow, I feel like no actual mystery/thriller elements have come to play yet. The characters are so boring and the author is too reliant on ‘woke’ comments making this book likeable. I feel like there’s no substance to the writing and no guts to the plot.

Sooo slooowww, I thought this would have a bigger horror element but it’s pretty boring so far.

This is pretty boring, please tell me it gets better 😂

This is kind of slow, I’m waiting for something to speed up.

This is going to be my third time trying to read this book. I love Mark Lawrence, but this book is so disgusting that’s it’s hard to read.
