After struggling intensely through the first chapters, it's finally gotten pretty good and I finally feel more immersed.

There are a couple themes that I'm not super crazy about so far (white saviorism, Islamophobic coding, and typical "only a man can enter this elusive and powerful female society and become the savior that the women couldn't, as destiny foretold"), but we shall see if they improve.

I'm enjoying it pretty well so far, but now reading it is the only thing I want to do! For the first time in forever, I stayed up late reading a book.

The story and world is unfolding remarkably different than how I would have expected in the first few pages. I like it, but I just crossed into "broody Alpha male territory" and I'm a little wary. I'm hoping it's not going to leave me wanting to roll my eyes...
