I LOVED “Lotus” but this book might just surpass that after that My Hero Academia anime reference. That made me LOL hard. Well played, Jennifer, well played!

Finished the prologue and I’m already hooked by the start and Andi’s genius sass 😂

I have to admit, I'm already not a big fan of Violet. I dont know why self-confidence and 'sassy' heroines have to be portrayed as badmouthing, difficult characters. Like why!? After reading so many books, it's become so off putting to see female characters like that.

And all the hiding of simple truths that could avoid long winded misunderstandings (I understand we need a bit of drama in the plot but still!)

Ahh man, another pet peeve if mine. Why is the heroine of the story always so easily forgiving due to lust, even when the hero of the story does a supposedly unspeakable act!? ugh!

Demi in this case experienced something horrific and Sawyer did something to remind her of that and broke her trust. And her forgiveness is way too easy based on the backstory especially when its about being triggered. Double Ugh!

One thing thats been really getting to me is how the person who has no clue wtf is going on is always (and I mean ALWAYS) kept in the dark by everyone around them.

Ive seen this time & time again in stories where the protagonist is experiencing a lot of events and no one gives her/him any answers by close ones (Demi’s parents and now Sawyer). Guess this is to keep the suspense but feel it always leads to mistakes!

Interesting plotline and for someone who hasn't read the Jack & jill series, off to a good start. But THEN! one of my biggest pet peeves makes an appearance. When the H/h borderline force themselves onto the other. When their character disregard basic personal privacy of the other. Hello Livy > you're quickly rollercoasting your way down to my disliked-heroine's-who-can't-mind-their-own-freaking-business ville

Kind of hating the scene pictured here. how the big bad men are doing what they want with the vulnerable damsel who can quack as much as she wants but will be ignored and disrespected by random strange men invited by her dad.

Ugh, i guess i prefer a scene where the heroine is not treated like a spoilt little brat..
