I wanted to read Outlaws of the Marsh (AKA Water Margin) as it’s one of the earliest books in modern Mandarin. I’ll stop here after finishing volume 1 - I’m using an odd copy from the NU library and won’t have time to get the other. The prose is stiff and the plots never very complicated, but it’s a surprisingly easy read for a translated mid-14th century work if you can keep track of the 108 characters.
