Reading this book makes me so hungry

not once while reading this book did i not feel anxious, upset or sad

not finishing this anytime soon because hoo wee is this book disturbing as fuck i don't think i can read it for prolonged amounts of time

I’m gonna be real honest this is starting to read like the adult version of your typical YA trope of manic pixie dream girl meets smart nerdy introverted male main character. I am however merely 2 chapters in so please prove me wrong.

Why is there a Japanese character named Marx.

I do like the video game references though

Halfway through the book and I am astounded at how accurately described and well written Mari's first touch with panic attacks is that I had to physically put the book down several times to calm my own emotions

"Tampon commercial, detergent commercial, maxipad commercial, Windex commercial. You'd think all women do is clean and bleed."

"...people didn't get to turn Amy into everyone's beloved best friend just because it was emotionally expedient." it's v ironic that people only sing praises of ppl when they're in mortal peril/dead, even praises that aren't real. ig being in those situations pedestal an entity above all other living entities: you probs won't be around any longer so ok you'll get credit for being a perfect person, even if you aren't

amy's treasure hunt notes sound so sinister to a suspicious reader (and ok fine i watched like 20% of the movie to get an inkling) but so convincing to a clueless husband. a clueless asshole husband. then again, i don't know the whole story to actually confirm his assholeness as portrayed by his own narrative and amy's diary entries but it certainly seems to be that way so far.

this book is going well so far, both of the main characters momoko and ichigo have got really interesting personalities and seeing these two vastly different people become friends is so refreshing (and gives me hope)

THIS IS SO PAINFUL TO READ BECAUSE RELATABLE
