I’m trying so hard to get through this book. I’m a cis white Anglo female. It’s depressing and it’s slow and we can immediately identify that the house was a fully furnished Jewish house that was vacated (that’s the nicest way I can describe it) during ww2. I’m at the point that I can’t figure out if MC knows or is trying to forget the Origin of the house. This book is IMPORTANT. It just hurts ch 4

I’m incredibly disappointed that his sister is on board with his “wooing” plan, and think she’s in love with her str8 BF and that’s why she wants her close. This would be more realistic.

Brendan is cringy and obnoxious AF. He’s love bombing and I would not be surprised to find out that he paid to get them trapped on the Ferris wheel & purposely stranded them after missing the ferry. He considers cheesy romance flicks as proof love exists. Completely ignores Annie’s opinion that the grand gestures are creepy and that more than love makes a relationship. Send him to therapy. JFC

I just can’t get into this one

I like the book. I’m listening on audible. So far my only complaint is the narrators. There are two narrators and they each do a separate chapter. What I don’t like is they also voice the other narrator’s character when it’s their chapter. It sounds ridiculous. Just have them voice their character! The female narrator does a much better job. The male sounds like a man pretending to be a woman. It’s awful.

Spoilers** Jordan is insufferable. She acts like a petulant child by sabotaging Astrid who was literally doing her job. I’m at the point where we find out Jordan’s ex is actually alive I can imagine she left Jordan for making her illness all about herself. Jordan wants a medal for taking care of her sick wife. That’s the BARE MINIMUM of what you do for your partner. Grow up.
