A malnourished and dehydrated girl defeats a bunch of trained soldiers, then King Arthurs a sword out of a mound of dirt, ends up transported to the fae Winter Court and is given access to more water than she realised could exist. She sasses everyone because that doesn’t get you killed by people with no sense of humour. There is also a library and a brooding fae male with dark hair.

Nothing like having an easy goal to achieve in the next fortnight. Also - she is not a teenager! I could cry from happiness.

I don’t know what kind of spell Briar Boleyn wove through these words but I’m having trouble stopping myself from simply inhaling this whole book instead of sticking to the reading pace we set for the book club.

Doing an immersive read of this one and it’s been great so far.

I have mixed feelings about this book. Mostly, I wish the fmc would stop obsessing over how hot the chief of police is. He’s soooooo gorgeous. We get it. Don’t need it repeated several times every time he appears on page.

The long chapters are making me tired

I’m almost a quarter into this book and I’m still not sure what I think of it

The urge to DNF is strong but I shall persist

Call me Inigo Montoya because “I don’t think that word means what you think it means” is the phrase I say most often while reading

There are at least THREE time periods and one person’s POV covers 2 of them, switching between past and present, and the only way to work out when it is and who is talking is to keep track of the verb tenses, plus whether it’s first or third person. No wonder I’m confused.
