Anyone else accidentally rating books they haven’t read? I did it twice in a row 😂

I hate the husband. I know we are not supposed to love him or whatever, but I would never be with someone who was even a little bit controlling. Her relationship is the horror story for me.

This just moved up my tbr. Can’t argue with an endorsement from Stephen King.

I bought a very pretty edition of this book from Once Upon a Book Club. Their books come with little themed gifts that you open as you go. I have been keeping track of these little packages for AGES and I have not snuck any peeks. I’ve decided to finally read it and open them!!!!! First gift is opened at page 59!

Hugh is like those dudes that assume they can beat a female Olympic athlete because they are dudes

Whew, thank god. Ilona Andrews - you guys were almost on my list.

Aaaaaaannnnnd there - 261 pages in - the main characters meet for the first time

I love that Ilona Andrews are like - oh hey, all belief systems are true, at least to some extent.Kate battles a Norse god and later consults a Rabbi regarding an untranscribable scripture.

You know you’re living on a frozen wasteland of an island primarily populated by psychopaths when you start to long for prison.

Kate: I love the king and I want to be with him
Everyone else: ok, that makes you the queen
Kate: WTF - no one told me that!!!!!!!

PSA: don’t run up on horses.

Ummmm… what’s the statute of limitations on child neglect and abuse? Because damn, I hate these parents. And the doctor.

Love that she asked about Shooting Glasses like that’s what everyone calls him, and it’s not just a nickname she only used in her own head.

Damn, girl. We’ve got to get you out of this town.

I’ve waited too long and now the plot of the first book is fuzzy. Off to read a synopsis.

This conversation with the Oracles is shockingly straightforward. Maybe the most straightforward conversation anyone has ever had with an Oracle.

Effing shifter politics. They are as bad as Klingons

The worst part of being a ghost possessing a doll seems to be that you can’t cry or sleep.

Celebrating Halloween in the Spring feels deeply wrong but you do you, Australia.

Lucy: people knew I was queer?
Also Lucy: (shows up to a tea party in full mad hatter cosplay)

I like the subtle critique of The Walking Dead that’s happening here.

50 pages in, I decided that I know I’m going to like this and went to buy the author’s other book, realized I already owned it, found it on my TBR shelf, and went back to reading.

I think telling people the premise of this book and seeing how they react would be an excellent friendship test, if I believed testing people’s taste was a reasonable thing to do.

Checking out the dramatized version on a road trip. Dramatized versions of several popular series are on mega sale on audible.

Luc is not my favorite. He’s like if Harry believed his own press.

This is very interesting and it puts some language into perspective for me

I appreciate the use of collective noun “conspiracy” to refer to a group of teenage girls

Never go with a hippie to a second location

Oh Laurel, don’t be that MIL.

No spoilers ever. I’m remembering the barest hints of Mortifying Ordeal plot points while I’m reading. Honestly, they are so different that I don’t get confused and try to map HP characters onto everyone who shows up. But I will have to re-read Mortifying Ordeal after this to have more of BK’s words in my head.
