I don't know how many authors need to hear this (other than the one who wrote this book): you absolutely do not need to cram a metaphor into practically every.single.sentence.

I don't think the mystery is ever coming at this point. Just putting the MC thru a bunch of ridiculous scenarios: longtime/middle aged love dumps her to go find himself, loses her job a floundering museum, drives drunk but didn't have any alcohol. I'm out.

I'm just not feeling this one. When you only pick it up to read as a last resort, it's time to move on.

So glad that the characters finally decided to try solving the murder! At the 72% mark. Better late than never, I guess...

The main character didn't present her evidence that Rendell's death was a murder until 57% through the book. I'm all for a slow burn, but that's ridiculous.

We have our dead body but nothing is happening? Just lots (and lots and lots) of arguing.

Why the author feels the need to remind readers that the main character Midge is fat on EVERY.SINGLE.PAGE (when it has no bearing on the story AT ALL) is beyond me...
