This is a hate listen at this point. This book is SO contrived

Oooooooo it’s getting more delicious by the page

Loving the contrast between Smoke&Shadow and Asughara— Emezi is brilliant

I’m noticing patterns: the main one that interests me is how often squids and octopuses are mentioned…

Also the story of Leah’s dreams about having silver scales beneath her skin as a child is VERY interesting.

I’m very very curious about whether or not the “Centre” has purposefully sabotaged their deep sea mission to make experiments out of Leah and her companions.

Also I’m loving the ache this book leaves. Show me love being stretched and shaken. Show me two people who have not given up despite the sea between them.
