I like this more than the Trial

very hard. very cool.

Skipping around the lectures on modules and vector spaces to go to fields and Galois theory. Perhaps I'll return to them if time permits

Almost done. I will now go back and do the exercises that I didn't do.
(I'm only reading the first 8 chapters, I've heard the other ones aren't that great)

D&F is great, but it feels a little too verbose and it very frequently states theorems in one chapter only to prove them 100 pages later, which always really bugs me. It also frequently uses results from exercises and since the exercises are huge, one can't hope to go through all of them; It would be nice to say in advance which ones would be used later. I think Aluffi is better but I don't want to quit this midway.

In an amzing turn of events I'm a complexity theory research assistant now; So I'm reading this to get a grounding in the field.

definitely moving too fast, but I'm not controlling the pace.
