Turns out the biggest innovation of the internet was to make it so we could all access the stupid ramblings of random members of our communities without circumventing censorship bans.
Censorship bans being bad does not necessarily mean that this dynamic is good.

Without being too overtly traditional, one does wonder why a society in possession of several proven traditions that say “hey don’t be a gluttonous lecher” would then produce Internal Thoughts of the Gluttonous Lecher, Parts 1-900.
I’m not saying they can’t or shouldn’t, I’m just asking why they WOULD.

“The Pool” would be good reading if its twist ending didn’t basically make it the Barbie movie instead of a meditation on why abandoning paganism is good for kids

Shockingly this extremely well known short story is good. Also, very good instincts to hour the Americans get involved: when was the last time YOU saw a passenger pigeon?

I have a soft spot for people like Nat and the protagonist in The Road that see trouble coming and immediately move to rectify it

Nothing scarier than, wait, let me check my notes, ah yes: women.
What is it about comfortable British people in literature that they can never enjoy it

Unfathomable choice to set your story about light domestic horror that, surprise surprise, has a twist ending, in the same place that Edgar Allen Poe set the Cask of Amontillado.
The Thief Lord is both a book set in Venice, a book for children, and somehow scarier than this.

Ok thought she was being unreasonably paranoid but your husband scaring you to death with animal masks to get your inherited money probably has a long and venerable tradition in the British isles

Goat Song
Every time a man says "why are you clinging to petit bourgeois values" and then immediately does something that showcases why a lot of people look at said values and say "oh yeah, I'll have a second helping of that", well, I was going to say an angel gets its wings, but really I'm not sure they're involved at all
