Wolfe is doing amazing work in articulating various aspects of the pagan masculinity. The breeding barn scene was the closest to a phallic cult ceremony I can imagine. And he seems to be serious about embracing an openly religious Stoicism.

This is amazing. The way Hazony posits nationalism as a middle way between anarchy/clan warfare (think The Godfather or the book of Judges) on one hand and universal imperial ambition on the other (the Tower of Babel, etc) is stunning!

One of the best books on political philosophy I have ever read. A tremendous compliment to Kirk's The Conservative Mind.

I'm reading this on E.J. Hutchinson's recommendation. Great so far. So midwesterny and academia-ey.

I know Waugh's book is properly understood as an extended metaphor for the R.C. church and everything, but I feel like that subtext obscures how much the character of Sebastian Flight troubled by his sexual dysfunction. I guess this analysis is garishly obvious, but I'm struck by this factor again and again.
