The further I go, the darker and more unsettling the story becomes. I’m starting to worry about how this will end…

I’m struck by how wise and contemporary this feels. The themes resonate deeply with the chapter of life I’m currently in.

This is a refreshing and beautifully poetic read that I’m really enjoying.

I’m starting to accept that I won’t like any character in this book… They are all very wronged and toxic toward each other. One thing I’m questioning is whether Heathcliff was originally a good guy. Kind maybe, but one who let others bully him. Over time, after hearing Catherine, the only person who seemed ‘kind’ to him, describe him in ways he couldn’t believe, he began seeking revenge on everyone.

I’m officially past what I would call the chaotic introduction to Heathcliff and his strange vibes. I’m now being introduced to young Catherine, Heathcliff and other characters who will clearly play a role in the development of both main characters. That said, I already know I will dislike Catherine. She comes across as very arrogant.

I’m already in love with the way it’s written.

I saw the movie a few years ago and absolutely loved it, it’s in my top 3 favourite movies of all time. So of course I have to read the book.
