I like the voice of Catalina better than the three of her sister. I enjoy Alessandro as the MMC better than Rogan, because I started to picture Rogan as Crocodile Dundee with a Texan accent and couldn’t get past it.

Really heart wrenching! Taking this one in small bites. I remember Vietnam and the protests, so this novel has a ring of reality.

I’m about halfway through! Gripping writing, fairly long. Characters and conflict so skillfully done, you don’t want to stop. I was dreaming of sleighs and magic and evil kings.

I’m on chapter 56, going to stall and take little bites for the rest. 53 and 54 made me 😪 weep

Promising myself to read a small part each day and not swoop through it. After waiting so long, it would be a shame to gobble it up like a whole batch of cookies! At least Violet is starting with all the information this time

Great start, the evil Lady Bartham has already made an appearance. Alice is in trouble!

This is the funniest book I’ve ever read, and I’ve read some hilarious ones

Hilarious start!

On the first ten pages, this is already a funny book.

Much to my delighted surprise, this is the story of Plum’s granddaughter! Plum March was Lady Julia Grey’s artistic brother.

This is one of my regular rereads. Masterful writing, tough plot, all the IN Death characters at their pinnacle.

I’m bogged down. Too May sub plots!

I’m a couple of chapters in. For a change, when I read a fantasy I’d like a guaranteed happy ending. None of this losing all your powers and getting dead. So Nora R it is! So far, so good.

I had forgotten Raybourn’s glorious prose! This story start in 1920’s Paris, then moves to Africa.

I can’t believe how well developed the back-story is in this. The major, current characters have landed in an Italian villa where both Chess and Mari intend to write. However, they discover that a group of musicians and their women rented the villa decades before, and a mystery unfolded. The former renters have such strong stories and personalities that I was looking them up! Gripping stuff

Great book, authentic description of praying women and their struggles. Well told, likable characters! Will definitely look for more by this author.

This is really fine storytelling. I read 200 pages, skipped to the last 100, now I’m reading the middle. I just couldn’t stand the suspense.

This is the backstory I needed to fill in the gaps. I watched the movie, read book 2, and started book 3. Ruby is a deeper character than the one painted in the movie. The movie is pretty well done, but they can’t tell you what each character is thinking.

Great sequel—does not re-run old territory. Further character development of original players, plot is believable, a little romance but no erotica

Wondering why no one has healing powers in this book, and how they are surviving knife wounds and such?

I abandoned this book— not my type. There is a sensual lesbian relationship. Didn’t make it after the first two chapters where I realized this was central to the plot. Lots of anguish and sadness by main character.

This is one of the few I put aside once I started. The central theme is simply not my cup of tea.
