I feel like the book is still only introducing the characters and skirting around the idea of the plot. It has started to introduce the main idea of the plot being the Gillman girls homicide and the theory that Althea Moon was not the culprit. It really feels like it is dragging to get into the actual depth of the story.

I’m up to chapter 6 and so far is has been discussed how Althea’s friend arrived at the form and why Lizzy left but not why Althea has possible regrets of why Rhanna (Lizzy’s mum) is all over the place. I hope Lizzy decides to keep the farm and bring in back to its former glory.

Finally they have exposed Jessie/Jess to the truth of magic and the magical realm.

Austin is a shapeshifter/werewolf, Earl is a gargoyle (cool!), Edgar ris a vampire as they suspected as children. I think Niamh is a druid although she could be a fairy or Troll because of the whole rock thing.

It takes about 4 or 5 chapters for the story to really make a decent start and get interesting. There are literally 3 chapters of the FMC just dribbling on about her parents house and how it hasn't changed since she was a kid, I almost put the book down and gave up because of it. Thankfully it started to pick up by chapter 4.
