I abandoned this one. Listened to is as an audiobook and just couldn't keep caring, because it was so much sad without any meaning making or hope. Maybe it was going to get better and I'll see if I want to pick it back up, but not now.

I got 10% into this book and not only did I not care about the protagonist, I actively disliked him. I'm going to return it.
