Is it the story or the audiobook? I just can't get into this.

Sigh. I'm trying since this one was 1 of 12 books recommended to me for the year, but I think this just isn't my kind of book.

Nope not for me, folks. I'm too stupid for this and I want to enjoy what I read.

Reading is supposed to be fun. This is not fun. This is painful. I've tried this on audio, I've now tried it physically. I have no idea what's going on and the writing style makes my head hurt. It is time to say goodbye to The Starless Sea.

This is not looking good, folks. I'm only 9% in and I already don't understand what's happening. This writing style makes my head feel scrambled. I'll give it until 20%. If I'm still confused then, I'll feel fine walking away since this is my second try.

Here we go. I'm trying it again over 3 years later. I'm trying it physically since the audiobook didn't grab me last time.

I'm surprised. I put off reading this one as one my friends' recommendations for 2023 and I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm nervous it will be another Poppy War though where I loved the the first book so much and then it was just war, war, war.

I think this is the end of the road, folks. I'm embracing DNFing things that don't hold me after giving them a solid try.

Not sure I'm gonna make it through this. It's my own fault - I knew there was smut but I thought it'd be more plot. I'm listening to audiobook and I'm literally listening to hours of people having sex.

DNF at 25%. My brain doesn't like this audiobook and I'm not absorbing it at all. I'll try it again physically.

Still trucking along. I'm still not into any of the "sexy" scenes and I think they're weird and they make me uncomfortable. The only thing I seem to like is Shadow's relationship with his departed wife.

I'm really trying to power through since it was recommended by a friend. However, I feel like I'm just not absorbing this. Except for the really jarring graphic parts.

Hmm. Not sure if this is for me. Already had some pretty graphic moments and that's just not my thing.

Ahhh yet another instance of me requesting a second book in a series from Netgalley because there was no indication that there was a first. That being said, this is holding up as a standalone anyway.

This started off like it could be interesting, but now I'm just waiting for it to be over.

I am loving this. I am loving this so freaking much.

Hmm... I'm back and forth on this one. On one hand, I'm interested and it's holding my attention. But on the other... I feel like there's something genuine just kind of missing.
And what's with the beef with Keanu Reeves? Odd.

Very bummed that this is Eloise's book and that I'm bored. She's my favorite Bridgerton on the show but I guess she hasn't been as quirky in the books.

This is taking me forever to read because Paris is still the most annoying human. And I'm not really liking Tariq that much anymore either.

Sigh. Sometimes a good re-read just hits the spot. Stephanie Garber writes in a way that makes my brain so happy.

Paris Daillencourt is About to Get Smacked. I don't know how much longer I can put up with this character.

Dude I've been listening to this audiobook for 10 minutes and I've already laughed out loud three times.

This book is like a nice warm hug. I'm loving it every bit as much as I did two years ago and it's a perfect ghosty book for October.

*Dreamy sigh* I'd forgotten how much I love this world. I need to read all of them all over again.

I tried. I really did. But this book is just too long and too boring for me to try to push my way through. I read a third of it and absorbed nothing. It's time to walk away.

So. I'm reading this one again because I have the ARC of the second book that I never got around to and I'm trying to catch up on any old Netgalley ARCs. I gave this 3 stars the first time around and thought maybe I'd prefer it physically instead of on audio. ..... It's not looking promising, folks.
