So much Simon in this book. As someone who is not a fan of Simon's, it's making it hard to read.

My best efforts at ignoring my TBR.

How has so much happened in only 18% of the book?

My first Shadowhunters novel.

Is it the books or is it me? Having so much trouble getting into anything lately.

Am I in a reading slump, or all of the books I'm choosing failing to capture my attention?

Bored, but too stubborn to actually quit.

Does this get better? I hope it does. Right now, it's shaping up to be very stereotypical of the genre, and I'm doing a lot of eye-rolling (especially where the protagonist is concerned).

Twelve Dancing Princesses is a favorite of mine, and I have high hopes for this book.

Chaol? After the ending of the last book, you're going to start this one with chapter after chapter of Chaol?

Okay, so he was completely absent from the last book, and I get that some people love him. But really? Really?

Finally reached the point in the book where things are supposed to pick up. Do not disappoint me, book.

Decided to just catch up on all the YA Fantasy books I've missed out on. Going to be here a while, but I'm committed to my goal.

What exactly am I reading?

It started off a bit slow, dull, and hella confusing.

And now...I don't know. Is it brilliant? It has the potential to be.

I read and read and read, and yet, I never seem to get anywhere. Are we sure this book is only 600 pages?

Ding.
Me: Hey, what's this?
Overdrive: Remember that hold you've had on Wolf Hall for forever? It's finally up. You want the book now?
Me: Nah, I just want faeries. Give me all the faeries. Delay that bad boy another couple of weeks.
Body: How about some sleep?
Me: None of that either. I'ma read about faeries until my eyes bleed.

Okay, Kristin Cashore. You've got me. The love story was what did me in, but Leck is also a pretty big draw.

Also, how are you doing this thing where you write in simple, subtle suggestions and manage to convey huge emotional scenes? Teach me.

Late to the party on this one. It hasn't hooked me yet, but I'm seeing the glimmer of potential. Hopefully the glimmer doesn't lose its effect before I make it through all 471 pages.

Finally, finally getting this one out of my TBR pile. Flying through it. I do love a good puzzle.

So glad I read the forward before I started. It casts a light on the entire book that has me thoroughly engrossed.

Shelving for now. I think an emotional break will do me some good. This book, while fantastic in so many ways, is also too heavy to take on all at once. Will definitely come back to it after I do some obligatory professional reading.

I don't usually cry over books, but every part that Harold narrates absolutely kills me, especially when he talks about Jacob.
