Scopro solo ora che questo libro è stato pubblicato prima come racconto breve (quello che ho letto io), poi anche come romanzo. Che fare, quindi? Fermarmi al racconto, o leggere anche il romanzo?

Mi sto sorprendentemente divertendo.

Nella prima pagina della mia copia, comprata al mercatino dell'usato mesi fa, è scritta a penna una piccola dedica che riporta la data 1 dicembre 1963.
Che abbia iniziato questo libro proprio oggi, 1 dicembre 2023, è una felicissima coincidenza!

L'ironia di leggere questo libro in inglese non mi sfugge.

Quei primi, spaesanti, capitoli di un fantasy che ti ritrovi a rileggere un due volte perché ti bombardano con mille mila informazioni su worldbuilding e personaggi ancora del tutto sconosciuti

E il mio bello arrivò davvero, immerso in tutta quella luce solare, con il viso che ardeva e i capelli al vento, e gli occhi, incredibilmente, come stelle al mattino.

Aggiungendo, molto sfacciatamente, anche le letture per l'uni.
