Read the first chapter so far and I already LOVE this book. The author explains why police reforming is useless as he states: "It is a myth that police brings justice" (...) "The origins and functions of the police are tied to the management of inequality of class and race. A kinder, gentler and more diverse war on the poor is still a war on the poor."

I completely agree with that.

I love how he just replaces the term John Doe with the name Doug AND adding a great-filter theory Easter egg to it! Loved that. So far it’s a good book but maybe a little too fantasy coded.

the printing art. I know it was 1833 but I think it is hilarious that he thought of printing as an art that is hilarious and adorable at the same time

1) This man had the most horrible handwriting in history
2) First 20 pages were boring. Like duh, I want the tea, when I read someone's journals and not "I did this, I went there."

Finished Nehemiah & Esther. Esther was pretty cool. A queen is in charge. Started Book of Job and I am already very confused. Job's story is giving me anxiety. Don't like.

Finished Book of Ezra. I didn't like it. It was.. boring. Not my vibe. Started reading Book of Nehemiah. Better vibe. Like it so far.

Finished 2 Chronicles. Didn't like it. Now starting with Ezra. At this point, I just want to skip to Psalms, so I can read about David again. I miss David.

Finished 1 Chronicles. I miss David again :( Because 2 Chronicles is about his son. I have a very odd para-social relationship with David and I am not sorry.

Started 1 Chronicles and guess who appears again! David! Finally. I missed him. Turns out 1 Chronicles is just about David from a different perspective? I won't complain, I am just thankful David is back

I finished 2 Book of Kings to find out that a prisoner is becoming king at the end. A prisoner who is king while he is incarcerated. And people still think people who are incarcerated are criminals. Bible shows they are kings lol. Using this as a proof now. Lmao. (this is a hyperbole don't worry, I won't use bible as proof)

I like that Foucault compares prisons to the plague but I really dislike his writing style like uff.. can you pls not be that philosophical thanks

Need to read this for my MA and I feel like I am losing my sanity. After reading Stigma and The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life years ago, I forgot how special Goffman can be. I know this book is to illustrate how people who are incarcerated are dehumanized but wow.. this book is.. making me tired, happy and desperate at the same time

I also still miss David.. I don't like the Kings in Kings.. :( David was so cool.

Now starting 2 Book of Kings. Also: Can we acknowledge that I finished HALF OF THE BIBLE?!
