Markus Zusak is a genius!!!! He stands alone in his style of story telling and while it took a bit to familiarize myself with it, it’s extraordinary.

I am so into this story and I’m so pleased it crossed my path.

Hello Chapter 21. I’m glad it’s Saturday and that I’m day reading, as opposed to reading this while it’s dark out!

Part 1 introduced the characters and their stories. Part 2 has me hooked! I can identify with all the characters in some way. The friendships and marriages and the highs and lows with both are accurate and relatable. I’ll be visiting Crystal, Colorado as much as time allows and then will miss it when this read is done.

I’m glad the reviews didn’t stop me because this novel is delicious! I am taking every free opportunity to gobble this down!

This book is good. I especially like the mystery. I have a hard time with the budding romance in both eras because I don't personally enjoy reading romance so that is why I haven't flown through these pages with a vengeance.

I'm hooked. Trying to sneak in chapters here and there when my daughter has solo play.

I am enjoying this book and have gobbled down the entire series. A funny error I've noted...Texas homes don't have basements:)

This is fantastic! The spiritual realm is so intriguing, such an intended mystery. This embellishment of what it could be like, derived from scripture and imagination, is thought provoking AND FUN!

Thought provoking... and I am filled with compassion and remorse at what went on not all that long ago.

I am going to continue to push through although I have no connection to anyone in this book yet. I feel as I am reading pages and pages of factual information, but the rating indicates that it was well received. So, I will continue.

This book has captured me. It is contrary to how I imagined Esther would be as she's much more feisty, but that makes since as anyone noticed by the King must have held their own. I never really imagined what it was like to part of the King's harem and I certainly never considered it wasn't by choice. I assumed the women were treated lavishly. Curious if it's author's imagination or historical records to support.

"Brother, let me be His arms for you right now." And, I cry. I love Marcus and who he represents, which is all the oppressed Christians suffering and facing many tribulations BC of their faith in Jesus.

It's no spoiler, but my friends in ink are coming to Texas. whoohhoooo. I'm obviously way to engrossed in this story as I'm concerned about Marcus's dog right now!

Woah!! I just didn't see this unfolding the way that it has. I skipped the gym today during lunch, but that's OK BC my heart hasn't stopped rapidly beating!

I want to drop out of society and finish this. Or, maybe I don't want to finish. I am on pins and needles as my friends in ink face danger!

The author is doing a remarkable job with the inner dialogue relating to the emotions experienced by the characters. True to the culture and time period, the innocence is conveyed without sounding childish. I'm also enjoying the authentic jargon of the time period as well as the aesthetics. I cannot imagine the amount of research this novel required but the hard work is what makes this story so remarkable. 

My heart is pounding and I'm only on page 10! It's going to be tough to get in kitchen after church instead of hiding with this book!!
