taking my time with this one bc work has me DRAINED. really funny and I love the sort of brain dump narration style. The author is kinda just like gossiping with you lol. shout out to Ivy for the recommendation

I like that this reads like a diary. It’s mostly just Holden’s inner monologue. The trouble with books that read like this is sometimes that have an insufferable protagonists. I don’t read many books from a male perspective, because sometimes I just can’t stand their thought process. Holden teeters between insufferable, introspective, funny, misogynist, and plain annoying.

Read this in 4th grade, it is one of my favorite books to this day!! I love Kate Dicamillo’s books. I’m rereading this with my little cousin :)

okay. sue me i know this a hot take but i don’t think im enjoying this so far. im intrigued by the story but the writing just doesn’t do it for me. gonna keep reading tho. it’s starting to get more interesting, but i am a little disappointed that her entire life is being surmounted to her relationship.
