I’m pleased that this is my book clubs first book. The book club is called Detroit Book Collective, and this book just so happens to be based on and in Detroit and it’s actually historic! I love a historical/contemporary fiction! And it’s giving magic! 🪄🌆🤎

Still too much BLM talk. Jasmine is obsessed.

I’m only 19% into this one, so my opinion could definitely change, but so far I’m struggling to connect with it.Right now, the story feels like it’s centered around a police shooting, and that’s not the type of story I’m in the mood to read. It’s not necessarily a criticism of the writing, it’s more about where I am as a reader. I was hoping for something different. Still listening!!!!
