Seneca does not expect us to manage magnanimity and the ability to be unmoved by obstacles instantly. Instead he expects us to build this ability—gradually. Those who are wise accept things as they come, and do not see experiences as good nor bad. It’s good to have goals, but set goals with limits. Do not fire away with the expectation that it will all work out. Have something to show for it.
