I'm learning a lot about 1960's & 1970's politics thus far. Very well written memoir. Looking forward to the next 200 pages.

Getting annoyed; more than a little slow-moving. Dialogue is great but there's not much going on & I'm a third of the way through the book.

The only book I asked for as a Christmas present. Enjoying it thus far.

KV in 1977, when asked about the current recession: "I propose that every person out of work be required to submit a book report before he or she gets his or her welfare check."

I've had this book for four or five months and like every other Bryson book, what's great is that each chapter can stand on its own. It's not something that you have to read in a handful of sittings or else be stuck having to go back and reread sections. I've learned at least 20 historical tidbits already. For example, I didn't know that Thomas Jefferson invented French fries.

I'm limiting myself to one (maybe two) short stories a day, knowing that they are going to run out of new Vonnegut to publish very soon. This is very hard. I love Vonnegut more than life.
