How are you going to be an aspiring screenwriter and student of Save The Cat and Story by Robert McKee but just start writing your script from scratch on page one? Even the bad writing advice books (i.e. StC) tell you to start with some sort of outline

I want to like this book but from the get-go I'm struggling. One issue is how much the conflict is the miscommunication trope, just at the beginning instead of the end. And the way the male characters talk about women is supposed to be endearing but it's really turning me off.
